Amazon Game Studios Closed Beta New world garnered a lot of attention, but it was not all positive. During a recent stream, Jaryd “Summit1g” Lazar revealed one aspect of the game that didn’t impress him: combat. Notably, the streamer shared his disappointment with the game’s PvE mechanics, stating that he often sees streams where multiple players are able to spam attacks behind a boss with little challenge. Summit1g would like to see more bosses with AOE (Area of ââEffect) attacks that punish players for spamming, making things a bit more dynamic.
âHonestly, I don’t think it sounds amazing. I think there are aspects that I like and aspects that I don’t like, I think it’s too basic, but we’ll see when it comes out,â he said. declared Summit1g. “Does it get boring quickly? Here’s my thought process: I can’t tell the difference between someone doing PvE at level 20 and level 60.”
It should be noted that Summit1g’s vision for the game is based on streams of New world, as opposed to their own gaming experience. Apparently, the streamer hasn’t spent time with the closed beta, as progress can’t be transferred to the full version. It’s understandable that some gamers don’t want to spend that kind of time with an unrewarded beta, but readers should note that he might feel differently when he plays it for himself!
Summit1g isn’t the only streamer who hasn’t been impressed with New world, Nevertheless. Asmongold spent a lot of time with the beta of the game and called the game “broken”, “delayed” and “not ready”. Despite this, the beta made some very impressive numbers on Steam. Last week the game beat over 200,000 concurrent players. That number has dropped significantly since then, however, so it will be interesting to see what kind of interest there is when the game officially releases!
New world is scheduled for release on August 31. You can check out our previous coverage of the game here.
