Volition has kicked off a first look at the automotive combat and driving mechanics featured in the Saints Row reboot, which launches in February 2022.
Latest gameplay video from developer Volition for the upcoming one Saints Street reboot offers a first glimpse into auto combat and driving. The autonomous Out of hell expansion hit stores in 2015, marking the start of a long period of inactivity for the Saints Street series. Volition returned to center stage a few months ago at this year’s gamescom, announcing a Saints Street reinvent that removes the characters and settings of the past.
However, the unveiling didn’t go as smoothly as the studio might have hoped. Several months after the revelation and Saints Street the faithful remain divided over the next new entry. Many fans want the look of young people “plugged“believing that they won’t hold a candle to the gangsters who made up the original Third Street Saints. Volition refuses to back down, however, its commitment to upholding this new vision rings loud and clear. And with the title open-world only. four months after release, it now looks as good as any to showcase this vision even more in action.
In collaboration with Game Informer, Saints Street Editor Deep Silver unleashed over three minutes of pre-alpha footage, which revolves around driving and auto combat. Of course, players will be able to shoot enemy tires, shatter windshields, and more. while accelerating through the Saints Street menu. Most interesting, however, is the footage which shows the player character riding their moving vehicle, presumably operated by an NPC, and firing punches while lying down or on their backs. And there’s even some off-road motorcycle gameplay for good measure. Check out all of the above in the video linked below:
Vehicle combat seems overkill and offers just the right amount of chaos. In short, it looks like what we would expect from Saints Street, with a little extra spice. Will this be enough to change the minds of the opponents? We will have to wait and see.
Fortunately, the wait won’t last too long. Although the franchise took center stage again not two full months ago, this new installment is slated for release in early 2022. So players can take Saints row ridiculous weapons and venture through its vast open world in just a few months.
