Acclaimed Mortal Kombat and Injustice creator NetherRealm Studios is looking for a Senior Designer for a new fighting title.
Nether Realm Studios is the developer behind two of the most recognizable franchises in fighting games. the mortal combat The series in particular has garnered great infamy over the years since the series’ arcade days due to brutal deaths that become increasingly gory and ridiculous as new games are produced. For many fans of mortal combatthis gory, over-the-top action is what initially drew them to NetherRealm Studios’ most famous creation, and kept them playing for decades.

A few years ago, NetherRealm Studios released a game in its Injustice series, followed a year or two later by a mortal combat Title. However, this trend seems to have come to an end after the release of Mortal Kombat 11fans are now wondering if NetherRealm will release a new mortal combat title, or return to their series of fighting games based on the DC universe, Injustice. Now, a new job listing indicates that a new game is definitely in the works.
There were rumors that NetherRealm would reveal a new title at The Game Awards 2021, but no such announcement was made, with the developer claiming that too many variables were in play to prevent its new game from being showcased. it was a disappointing event for many, it indicated that the new NetherRealm title was in development. A job posting for a senior designer at NetherRealm further confirms that a new game is on the way. However, there aren’t many details to see outside of the likelihood of a new NetherRealm title coming, and that it will focus on “melee-based combat” gameplay. The job also requires experience in “combat design and implementation”, which again doesn’t give much information besides indicating that NetherRealm is building a fighting game.
With Mortal Kombat 11 being NetherRealm’s most recently released game, it would remain in tradition for the studio to then focus on a Injustice Title. However, there are already rumors that Mortal Kombat 12 has already been leaked by a NetherRealm employee, which means that Injustice fans should wait a while longer before they can see a new DC fighting game.
