Liam Scales in Celtic waiting game as Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin ramps up summer recruitment campaign

Jim Goodwin could be forced to play the waiting game for Liam Scales as Celtic welcome players back from injury.

It comes as the Irishman completed his first signing as Aberdeen boss with the capture of Albanian midfielder Ylber Ramadani after a £100,000 deal was agreed with MTK Budapest.

But Goodwin doesn’t stop there with Ireland international pair Connor Ronan and Jamie McGrath on that radar for loan moves.

Ipswich goalkeeper Vaclav Hladkay is another target, but he also has options in the Czech Republic.

The Dons have also asked about Charles Dunne, but St Mirren’s valuation is much higher.

Another player who is on the radar is Celtic defender Scales, although that may be delayed until the champions recover more players from injury.

Aberdeen have also renewed their interest in Blackburn midfielder Jacob Davenport, who is nearing the end of his contract.

Stephen Glass showed interest in the 23-year-old in January and now Goodwin and his recruitment team are closely monitoring his situation.

The Aberdeen reconnaissance team also reported several European targets.

Goodwin predicted that Ylber Ramadani would become a strong Red Army favorite.

The Albania international, who signed a three-year contract, became Goodwin’s first signing at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen have agreed to pay relegated MTK Budapest £100,000 to land their 26-year-old midfielder.

Goodwin said: “Ylber is an energetic and hard-working player with great versatility.

“He has the intelligence of the game to be able to play a few positions in the midfield area, either as a holding midfielder or as a more advanced box-to-box midfielder.

“He is a real team player who leads by example, and I have no doubt that he will be the big favorite with the fans because of the desire and the commitment he gives to every game”.
