The 2021 high school football season has been a big one for Camden Fairview Cardinals quarterback Martavius ââThomas in just four games.
On Wednesday, Thomas was invited to the 2021 All-American Bowl Game Offense-Defense in Inglewood, Calif., Scheduled for late December. Thomas will be one of the few players in the country to come and learn from football’s greatest minds, train with elite professional players and coaches, and participate in camps and a post-season bowl game.
The game is similar to the US Army All-American Bowl game and the Under Armor All-American Bowl game.
The first time this postseason bowl game took place was in 2017; then, future quarterback Cam Newton, winner of the Heisman Trophy, was named MVP. Other high-caliber players who made the All-American Bowl offensive-defense game were defensive end Nick Bosa for 2019 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year; future Heisman Trophy winner and 2019 NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson; and 2018 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, running back Saquon Barkley.
Thomas’ success isn’t limited to baseball, which he previously pledged to play for the University of Arkansas. His list of accomplishments includes being named Offensive Player of the Week multiple times. And now Thomas will be able to learn from some of the best football developers in a camp that emphasizes player development.
Thomas has proven to be a high-speed, explosive and dynamic passing and running quarterback. In the first four games of the 2021 season, Thomas threw for 823 yards (seventh highest in Arkansas state), seven touchdowns and just two interceptions on a 115.2 of 44 quarterback score. completed passes (out of 76 attempted passes). He also ran for 285 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries. Thomas also possesses a quick instinct to perform RPOs quickly and the ability to break down the routes of his receivers and the cover patterns of his opponents.
Thomas still progressing as a quarterback for the Cardinals, he will look to use that postseason camp to potentially become an even more dangerous quarterback for Camden Fairview in his senior season next year.
