UConn started the season shaken up, the Randy Edsall era was over, and he responded by being nothing more than a light snack for Purdue in a 49-0 loss last week.
There is a running game hidden among the issues, but it has yet to emerge. No one got to start, and Kevin Mensah was bottled up from the start, but the Huskies have enough decent options to try and beat.
The only advantage is the possibility of going behind the line. Defense isn’t bad for generating tackles for loss – seven per game – but…

Why the army will win
UConn has trouble against running. It is not positive against the army.
Even with the ability to get into the backfield every now and then, the defensive front doesn’t stand up to anyone trying to run. He’s not totally destroyed – allowing 4.3 yards per carry – but that’s partly because the top three teams on the slate spent too much time throwing.
The Army is totally on its game, tearing Georgia State and WKU apart for 600 yards and eight scores in the first two outings. Inside and out, the option dominates.

what’s going to happen
It’s not just the army racing game. The defense holds up, doing just enough to survive WKU’s new improved passing game, aided by the O holding the ball for nearly 40 minutes per game.
The army will run over 300 yards, the defense will be much better on the third downs than it was last week against the Hilltoppers, and the great season continues.
